The area of Kyoto likely to be visited on a stay of a day or two is covered by the Kyoto City Bus & Kyoto Bus One-Day Pass which you can buy on any bus or from a ticket machine at Kyoto Station for 500 yen. Since it costs 230 yen a ride on any bus within the city, it will be more economical and convenient to get a one-day pass.
