Ive got nothing to add, but maybe a question?
If someone is moving to Australia as a 'foreigner', how will that impact where they will have a richer, easier and more integrated living experience?
It is my impression that the metropolitan areas will be more tolerant and you run less of a risk of feeling isolated. A young family, mom and kids looking to 'fit in'... are all places equal?
I dont know...just wondering on this aspect.
I will tell an interesting story- a very good friend was attending an international medical conference in Sydney in 2000. had a great time, some vacation, some medical talks...he was at a dinner with colleagues, very senior with the local community..wine was flowing...and he said "Id move here in a heartbeat". Two years later he gets a call; "there is a full professorship that you would be perfect for...we have no great applicants... its yours if you want it, but it closes in two days."
Huddled the family and took it, moved the family and is still there. Owns a amazing home on the water in Nth Sydney.
it is one of those rare times when that feeling we have all had during a vacation - "say, it would be great to live here"- actually worked out!
