proof of onward travel
I am a US citizen with permanent residency outside the USA. I travel frequently to the US, and OLCI is no problem for my flights into the US. However, for my return trip to my country of residence, from where my itinerary originated, I can no longer achieve a check-in either on-line or at an airport kiosk. I get the "TINABP" message on-line or the big yellow screen at the kiosk requiring an agent's attention. It requires "proof of onward travel" since there's no return ticket in the system. The agent usually takes the easy way and just enters a bogus date of return travel.
I've lived overseas a decade, and I used to be able to do this - the system knew I was an ex-pat and didn't require any documentation. I think this problem started just about the time the new website rolled out last year. Obviously, it's irritating and time consuming, and might ruin some upgrade opportunities.
I have complained to counter agents during check-in, they typically couldn't care less. I've written to 1kvoice - just an infuriating form letter response. Anyone else suffer this phenomenon, or have a recommendation?
