We are taking our son's friend on vacation with us, but he could not get on same flight--he is on a flight that leaves a few minutes later. Problem is, the kid (16 yrs old) has only flown once in his life and is quite apprehensive. Does anyone know if a parent can accompany a kid to a gate even if they are not traveling? I wonder if calling in advance would help or just trying at check-in counter? The specifics are EWR, flying UA.

Thanks

I must be missing something. His flight is leaving a few minutes later than the one you and your son are taking? All of you will be in the airport at the same time (aside from the last 20-30 minutes before departure). What is the problem?
