I'd be monumentally pissed off if they had charged me a fortune to reserve my seats and then shifted me at the last minute, even if they then did give me a refund. I agonise over seat selection, to have BA come along and change all of that with no notice would irritate me no end (unless it's a broken seat or some other technical reason, in which case it's fine).
I'm afraid it makes no difference; it can still happen due to the usual get-outs of operational reasons, equipment changes, defective seat, etc.

All you will get is "monumentally pissed off" and your fee back. Oh and a different, almost certainly worse, seat.
