I was incensed to see this article in the Baltimore Sun,
Scratch off lottery tickets, fly 1st-class to London
in which the State of Maryland Lottery Fund is going to be purchasing First Class tickets on BA from BWI-LHR and giving them away at lottery.
Although I think this might be a good idea, shouldn't the State of Maryland be subsidizing an American carrier, like American Airlines. Given that AA is in so much worse shape than BA, I would think Maryland and other US government agencies should subsidize US airlines first. I know they already gave them the 9/11 bailout, but this is completely ridiculous. I mean, they spent 1.15 million dollars to buy 100 F tickets at a "discounted rate."
Personally I am really irritated by this and hope that American puts pressure on the State of Maryland to end this promotion, or at least be sure that AA gets part of the revenue.
Does anyone know the address and fax number of a person at AA, maybe in marketing that could do something about this?

US airlines don't fly non-stop to international destinations from Maryland/BWI (other than Airtran to FPO and USA 3000 CUN or PUJ
http://www.bwiairport.com/2arlnscd/in_nst.shtml ). Maybe the Maryland lottery will "buy American" when the airlines serve Maryland better.
Also, Maryland is a state, not a US Government agency.
