FYI the Residence Inn La Jolla
8901 Gilman Drive La Jolla California 92037 USA
is remodeling. This is one of the original style RI's with separate buildings. They seem to be doing 3 or 4 buildings at a time. The construction work was not obtrusive during my recent stay but I was gone all day.
The reduction in available rooms for sale means less chance of an upgrade to the 2 story suites.
I did not see any mention of the construction work on their website.

I like this hotel. Its geographically suitable for my business meetings, and the staff is generally nice.

The brand wide cutbacks in the evening reception going to "The Mix" are very visible on Monday and Wednesday evening. On Tuesday night, it is barely noticeable. They cook hamburgers on a grill, not microwaved patties with printed grill marks. Extensive condiments and side dishes. The main cutback I noticed is only hamburgers now, instead of hamburgers and hot dogs. No loss for me as I always went for the burger.

Breakfast still good for a RI.
