Does Hyatt Give Hotel & Airline Miles, Or Just One?

Hello,
I came across this link:
http://www.hyatt.com/gp/en/earning/with_hyatt.jsp

I have more miles for United than any other airline, so I thought this meant that after my recent 8 night stay at Hyatt, I could've gotten a free 500 United miles to add to the pile.

I actually recently rented a car through Hertz and found a link about a similar link. Though it was after the fact, my United frequent flyer # and Hertz reservation # was enough to get Hertz to issue me the extra miles.

However, when I emailed Hyatt about the above link asking for the 500 bonus United miles and providing my Gold Passport #, my United #, and my reservation # for my recent stay, I got the following reply:

Thank you for contacting Hyatt Gold Passport. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

I would like to inform you that once Hyatt Gold Passport points have been converted into bonus miles, they will no longer be available for use in the Hyatt Gold Passport program. All Hyatt Gold Passport points converted to miles are final. Please confirm if I may go ahead and convert your recent stay at Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center to miles.

I look forward to your reply.

Best Regards,

I earned 7,125 Hyatt points. But I don't want to swap all of those points. I want to keep them for Hyatt but get the extra 500 assigned to United. Is this person misunderstanding my query, or am I misunderstanding the link? It doesn't read to me like I'd have to choose between Hyatt points and converting all of them to United to get the bonus miles.

Thanks for any help clarifying!
