Actually, according to http://www.flypacificblue.com/ (virgin blue's international carrier) they will begin flights between Christchurch and Brisbane on January 29th and between Christchurch and Melbourne on March 4th. Its $189 each way for their "fair fare" on what appears to be every day except Sunday ($199).
