OP, book your flight for your true destination and avoid afternoon tea by dining in the CCR before departure and your main meal further in to the flight. Trust me, BA food isn't worth making a detour for!
Indeed. Getting the risk of suboptimal destination and/or suboptimal dates to "enjoy" a light meal strikes me as a recipe for disappointment. As Tobias-UK rightly mentioned, there is already a bistro selection which can easily enable you to make your own light meal anyway (I frequently do that instead of afternoon tea which I do not like myself).
