I'm doing some travel planning for my in-laws for their upcoming trip to Portugal.
They have booked a one way flight from London to Porto in May, but hadn't realized that they arrive in LHR from CLT and the Porto flight leaves from LGW. They have enough time to travel from LHR to LGW but are now thinking about connecting through LHR to Lisbon instead.
They are going to Barcelona towards the end of their trip, and we did see a bunch of BA flights from BCN to LON.
Their LGW-OPO flight is nonrefundable... With the change fees and fee for using a representative, I think I calculated that it would be more to change the flights then just buying a new ticket and leaving the other ticket alone!
Are there any strategies or suggestions for this situation? Thanks in advance.
BA shows no flexibility in these cases, so it would be: Pay for a new ticket or pay for a transfer from LHR to LGW.
