Very true. Buying a Patek is in my view the end game of collecting. Hopefully I'll get there some day. That being said buying a Patek with a dealer that you have a good relationship with could potentially save you thousands of dollars.

It is absolutely true per my experience. You will never know the cheapest price ever because each retailer cuts different discounts to customers.

Some are willing to cut discounts beyond what is allowed.
Yeah, I think the key to watch buying is avoid boutiques at all costs, and try and work with the same shop over and over again. Then you start to see deals that become to tempting to pass up.
