Quick advice welcome: Simple AA award F versus unwieldy JL award F?

Most definitely a First World problem, but...

As I posted in another thread regarding the same trip but a different issue (whether extra miles would be charged for award backtracking), at the moment I have the dumb luck of the following choice for late this year, for an SFO-PVG F award trip for my wife and myself:

1. SFO(AA F red-eye)-ORD(JL F)-NRT(JL J)-PVG, arriving about 10 pm. I have this reservation on hold.
2. SFO(AA F)-LAX(AA F in old style 777)-PVG, arriving about 3:30 pm. This is available but not on hold.

For anyone who's flown JL F or who otherwise has some light to shed, would you consider it worthwhile for the more unwieldy itinerary?

FWIW, we've flown AA F before as well as F on a number of other airlines (including SQ, TG and CX), but never JL F or JL at all for that matter. But this seems like a very rare chance to fly JL F for the first and perhaps last time, made all the more valuable because of the big AA devaluation looming.

I know it's a very subjective call, but would welcome any advice. Thanks!
