I will be in Hiroshima and planning to fly to Seoul, but since it is cheaper to fly from Fukuoka, my plan is to go there by Shinkansen.
Hiroshima -> shinkansen -> Fukuoka -> airplane -> Seoul
HyperDia says that SHINKANSEN MIZUHO 601 departs Hiroshima at 07:27 and arrives to Hakata/Fukuoka station 08:29. My flight is at 13:30, so I should be at Fukuoka Airport at 11:30 or so.
Questions:
1. Do you think thats enough time to go from Hakata station to Fukuoka Airport, including possible train delays (how often is that in Japan anyway?), since I really don't want to miss my flight
2. Can I buy Shinkansen ticket on same day of travel? If train departs at 07:27 can I show up at the station like 30 mins before and buy a ticket? Or thats too risky?
Thanks!
If you really take the early train, there's more than sufficient time as per google map your travel should only take 1.5 hour to the domestic terminal of Fukuoka airport and some more time for the inter-terminal bus. However, I would recommend you to get off Shinkansen at Hakata then catch a cab to the international airport, it will only cost you 1500 JPY or so for the taxi.
For Shinkansen to delay it almost only can be "Personal accident" or natural disaster, so if you leave this ample of time you should be safe.
Buying the next train ticket is totally OK, but advance booking into reserved seat (first / last row) would be recommended if you have bigger luggage.
