I have seen some posts where people talk about AC’s not so skilled IT team. Here comes an interesting fact about AC’s reservation system.
When I booked my business trips, I had to do it via our corporate travel desk (via Concur). I noticed that in all my bookings with AC the last letter of my first name, an “M” was missing. For example if my name is William, reservation came up as Mr. Willia. I did not pay much attention first, since I thought that it happened because they run out of space to print my name and surname. It turned out I was wrong:
One of my colleagues, whose name is Kim, noticed that when the travel desk issued her ticket, it came up as Mr. Ki and not Mrs. Kim. Imagine all the hard time at security and passport control!
She did a lot of phone calls with our travel desk and AC and it turns out that AC’s reservation system makes a funny thing: if your first name ends in “M” then the system assumes it is a Mr. and it drops the M from the first name.
To make things more interesting, if you have a combination of AC and other *A flights on the same PNR, the rest of the airlines do not have a problem with the "M". If you look at the reservation with LH for example, full name is there.
So be careful if your name is Kim, William, Miriam, Mayim, Adam, etc. and you book through Concur and AC flight
