Surcharges in terms of loss of value of points when redeeming?

That makes sense, though. Seems to be CSP-Citi AA-SPG Amex might be my best order for now? Thanks for your opinion.

If you are planning an around-the-world trip, I think you are making a mistake by putting all of your "miles" in the UR basket. To redeem on any oneworld airline, you would have to transfer your points to BA. BA Avios are great on short-haul, intra-European flights in or out of LON, but redemptions on many long-haul routes (including TATL on AA, AY, BA, and IB) will carry hefty surcharges. Redeeming AA miles instead will have no surcharges at all, unless you redeem on BA (high surcharges), or IB (low surcharges).

So if you think you can get the CSP card, that's great, but then try to get some AA miles -- via a Citi/AA card -- in your stash as well.
