But wouldn't that somewhat negate the benefit of scheduling the tight turnarounds in the first place, namely extracting maximum efficiency from one aircraft?

Or to look at it another way, if they were going to position a second aircraft, wouldn't it make sense to schedule some flights with it?

Unless these aircraft are parked at STN in any event, in which case having the spare is of no marginal cost I suppose.
