How cheesed off with AC is reasonable when...
I booked a Latitude YYZ-MUC (work related) return, leaving next Thursday returning Monday. The outbound is in latitude and the return in flex. I bought the latitude for the opportunity to instant upgrade so I have a flatbed overnight to MUC. I was casually checking My Bookings yesterday and noticed that they had rebooked me on the direct YYZ-MUC flight on Wednesday, maintaining the upgrade. They had sent an email 2 or 3 weeks ago but I a) get so many of those itinerary updates and b) typically forward directly to my secretary that I didn't notice. Anyway, called yesterday and was told there was a schedule change (no direct YYZ-MUC that day). I asked that instead of flying a day earlier to Europe couldn't I just be rebooked through FRA or ZUR on the Thursday overnight. That was possible, but the upgrade wasn't. So, I am left with flying to Europe a day earlier than I need to (with added expense of hotel night, plus missing meetings I have scheduled on Thursday in Toronto) or flying when I want to fly but potentially sitting in the back of the plane having paid for a latitude ticket. My feeling is that I have bought a guaranteed upgrade (I.e., upgrade at time of booking) and AC have essentially reneged on that deal. I've escalated this- what do people think? Is it reasonable to be peeved, or have AC acted appropriately here? I'm speaking with AC today.
