Yeah, this happens all the time, and it's why A3 need to properly enforce priority boarding, rather than leave it up to us to cut in line. I usually approach the queue with my gold card clearly visible in my hands, with my boarding pass. Stops other golds from jumping in front of me (well, sometimes it does :P).
