The Fullerton is located in the historic main post office building, very close to the Asia Civilizations museum and the merlon. It doesn't have gardens like Raffles and the rooms seem to be all cookie-cutter alike. Fullerton Bay is a trendy boutique hotel very close to the Fullerton.
There are a bunch of historic boutique hotels in and near Chinatown, but some of them appear to be of questionable quality. There was one in particular that some people here really liked, IIRC including our CD SanDiego1K but I don't remember the name.
Most of Singapore's hotels are in modern newish buildings.
