A purist capitalist perspective....

I don't think airlines should be thinking of decreasing benefits for those who buy non flexible economy tickets. What I think they should be doing is increasing benefits for those who regularly need to get from A to B, now, flexibly, sitting up front and who are prepared to pay for it! I like these people. Without them, I wouldn't be able to get from A to B for so little
