I am somewhat skeptic that the next year will be interesting for FFs.

While I am myself a business traveler, I hope that the frequent flyer programs would be beneficial to all, not just business travelers. I think that the airlines will be careful not to exclude a traveler like Leo. On the other hand, they cannot ignore their best customers and revenue. So expect more restrictions on the expensive tickets and upgrades, and more bonus offers for the full fares.
