If considering the Magic Castle Hotel, you might also look into the Hollywood Hills Hotel. It is part of the Magic Castle Hotel, located up the hill from it. You will be directly adjacent to Yamashiro's. (The pool you see when dining at Yamashiro's is part of the Hollywood Hills Hotel, and you will have access to it.)

You get all the amenities offered at the Magic Castle Hotel, including access to the Magic Castle.

Rooms are spacious but are not updated. It is an old apartment complex. So you will have a kitchen, living and bedroom in many cases. Views are amazing.

It's a bit of a tradeoff, since the rooms are not as nice, but we enjoyed staying there with my 20-month-old son. It worked out very well for us to have the extra space and cooking facilities.

Almost forgot: Rooms are often less expensive than down below at the Magic Castle Hotel.
