I am not one for small talk with strangers (my introverted nature) and put the headphones on to minimize risk of being talked to during the flight!
Exactly this. Sometimes I'll even board the plane with earbuds already in my ears to minimize the risk. I'm not totally opposed to talking to the person sitting next to me (I've certainly met some very interesting people over the years), but given the choice I'd rather be in my own little world.
