Yanaka. It's an old part of Tokyo. The big draw is the Yanaka Ginza with lots of shops and snacks. Also the cats that hang out at the stairs. At the end there's a Yanaka Coffee that's worth a visit. That's worth a few hours.
After midnight??? Yanaka coffee closes at about 8pm or so. I have a friend who runs a gallery in Higure (close to Nippori station), have stayed over quite a few times, the Yanaka area is pretty much dead once the trains stop at night.
