For last year or so of flying into/out of OKC for meetings, there is one gate agent who does his own lone-wolf thing and says "we're going to use a new process today where you will scan your own boarding pass, and you will keep it until you arrive at your destination." He then stands off to the side and does nothing unless the pass does not scan correctly. It tends to take much longer than usual and there is obviously no enforcement of boarding order. I've never seen this at any other WN gate anywhere in the county, and wonder if this is sanctioned by WN (doubt it). Anyone else seen this in action?
