There's research that I've seen on other threads that mentions that the best time to find the cheapest price on a ticket is roughly around eight weeks out from the travel date (with wild variations on this rule for different routes and dates, of course), so the AS flights are almost certain to drop between now and Christmas (before they go up again at the last minute). Keep in mind that companion tickets are eligible for the low fare guarantee, so you can buy it now and get a wallet credit on the paid ticket if the price drops. I've done that many times.
