Wait- I thought they matched the plate AND BILLED YOU. Not the registered owner. The whole point of the online system is so they link a plate to you and your credit card, and it is independent of the registration.
The vehicle already has a pass. Unless you have already made arrangements to divert that charge to your own pass (as Hertz advise), when you drive through a toll it bills Hertz's pass.
