When I look at the flight on aa.com, it shows an AA flight number.
You stated that you are on a BA marketed flight . As such , if you miss the flight, AA may well just send you back to BA

e.g. if booked on BA 1516 LHR-JFK which is operated by AA , that is different to being booked on AA101.

AA's policy ( as listed on the AA agency site ) is applicable to AA bookings, not BA bookings

BA has no policy to provide protection on separate tickets and indeed states that there is no protection
