AA does mess up from time to time. BUT they don't always forget! I had them not process a gifted SWU properly and two years later tried to take a current one in-lieu once I made EXP. Took several phone calls and a creative EXP agent to fix it.
You can gamble they won't catch it and all will be well, or what you might try doing is waiting until her return and then call to check her SWU balance (not visible to non-EXPs) to see if they still charged her account without adding your gift. This is much easier addressed when current than years later should she ever earn EXP status.
