Suggest doing google search for skype on iOS 5.1.1 to see if older version is available to download. That is also true for other social apps like whatsapp, viber.

I doubt it will log in. A while back I couldn't get Skype to log in--the culprit turned out to be it not being updated. I updated Skype and it logged right in.
