As you read the article you will find many luggage manufactures misrepresented the real size of their product by not including the wheels or handles in their published measurements. Before sizers this was not a large issue but now it can be the reason you will have to check your bag.
It is also a good idea to measure your bag after packing, especially if it is a soft side. It is easy to over pack them causing a bulge that may make your bag too fat. Using the outside pockets can also cause problems.
