Wow, thanks for the tips, I'll be in ABQ for four weeks starting Sept 8th so at least I have a place to start when I'm looking for things to do. How far is it to Roswell (I want to see some UFO's) and Las Cruces?
Edited to add; thanks for the links, very helpful

The fiesta's official web site is worth a look, if you haven't already seen it. As letiole mentioned, the evening balloon glows are cool, as are the mass ascensions in the mornings. If you've never visited the area before, you'll want to see Albuquerque's Old Town, the Petroglyph National Monument, maybe take the Sandia Peak Tramway and see the city from 11,000 feet. Santa Fe is only an hour away via I-25, or you can take the more scenic Turquoise Trail.
There are a couple of local restuarants you'll want to hit, like Garduņo's and El Pinto. As far as nightlife goes, places like O'Niell's, Kelly's (3222 Central SE, across the street from O'Niells), and the Martini Grille are popular, and there are a number of casinos in the area. As an added bonus, O'Niell's, Kelly's, Martini Grille, and a number of other local bars and restaurants participate in Idine.
The local free paper publishes a club calendar that will give you a good idea of what's going on at the time. The paper also puts out a restaurant guide and best-of list that should be helpful. This guide could be useful, and also check out this thread.
