Thanks - I'd googled with the term 'infant' so was nowhere near to finding the thread!

Also, I would recommend booking a "proper" suite, i.e., one with a real door between bedroom and living room. Every child is different, but mine would only sleep at that age when it was pitch dark. If you have a suite, you can put your child to bed, then sit in the living room. This rules out most Amans (unless you book villas). You might be able to sit outside on the terrace, but that's not always ideal depending on weather conditions.
Good point - I'd not thought about the beach distance issue or the value of having a quite. Our 13-day old's sleep currently seems totally uncorrelated to light levels or noise....!

That said we still managed many long hauls in that window (including many on my own with kid/s) and survived, just not exactly fun
How would you normally relieve the boredom (if not on a plane)? Were you travelling in Y/J/F? Do you think its a problem that can be mitigated by flying a higher class?

Also thanks for your comments re. NZ - if we get round to booking NZ I might PM you to get a sense of where you'd specifically been with an infant!

Ha, ok, you got me there.

Yes - Laucala looks amazing. But its a proper pain to get to from London (or anywhere really...) and in Dec the weather isn't supposed to be so good... Maybe one to file for I-don't-know-when!

Thanks all for the 4S Feedback - we will definitely keep that in mind. I think we have minimal interest in city breaks but their non-city properties could sort us out very nicely indeed.
