Combining multiple one-page PDFs into one PDF is easily addressed by PDFtk, look for "PDFtk Free."
I've used the Google Drive widget for scanning for over a year now and never had a problem with focus. I love the fact that, with the Google Drive Sync app for Windows, my phone scans are both up on Drive and in a local folder on my laptop within seconds.
