Courtyard Isla Verde Trip Review

Apologies for resurrecting this thread but seems like only general discussion of all hotels in PR; other threads just focus on specific properties.

Was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Clearly a 80's era hotel that got rebranded as a Courtyard at some point. So not the generic Courtyard look, which is not a bad thing ;-). Midrange amenities in bathroom. Very clean, very friendly and helpful staff from the front desk to the restaurant and the pool.

(on edit) Because the furniture is clearly a little dated, there is/are still desks in the room for those who work at the Beach. There's also a real closet, a safe big enough for an iPad, a solid door on the bathroom, and drawers to put your clothes away. Has not yet been given the Marriott "we hate business travelers" renovation treatment. There's also plenty of outlets and charging plugs including USB ports at the desk and by the bed.

The hotel has a small casino in the lobby, a cafe, a buffet restaurant, an outdoor sit down restaurant and a swim up pool bar. Not sure if there's drink service on the beach but wouldn't be surprised. Very limited room service menu but a breakfast order was timely and well presented.

Nice clean beachfront with organized sun loungers, umbrellas, staff to assist with towels etc. small but clean and well- kept pools, including swim up bar. Gym/fitness room in ground floor of the garage overlooks the pool. better equipped than I expected.

Location by the airport means you do hear planes taking off, but not too bad. Biggest negative (other than flashes of 80's decor) is that you can't really use the balconies as your neighbors AC unit blows its hot air on you. It's on your balcony and there's nothing you can do.

Stayed January 2016, traveled solo
