choose another airline I DID !
Thai airlines have lost their way over the years
Andy I have just noticed that you are UK based.....you are never going to get full value from the Platinum benefits living outside Thailand. The on-board benefits are minimal, other than those I outlined above at departure and arrival. I have had occasion to travel in Economy twice in the past three months and I have been recognised as a Platinum member, had my food order taken first and had the adjacent seat blocked....much more recognition than when I fly in J/F, but then most Platinum members are, by definition, flying in J/F so would rarely experience these "benefits"

If you have consciously flown a lot with Thai to achieve Platinum, and had not read the benefits section in detail before choosing to go for Platinum then I can understand your disappointment. Perhaps you would be better off trying for Elite status on a British or European airline?
