For some, potentailly a very inconveneint development

I've just read more closely the new US Visa Waiver Program restrictions, in which some of those who took advantage of the fantastic ex-KRT xONEx deals might inadvertently get caught up.

http://travel.state.gov/content/visa...r-program.html

Concretely:

Important Notice:

Under the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, travelers in the following categories are no longer eligible to travel or be admitted to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP):

  • Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
....

These individuals will still be able to apply for a visa using the regular appointment process at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
While the page does mention that certain other travelers may qualify for a waiver of the requirements, it's not clear that they'll think to include a special exception for Flyertalkers. And indeed, as far as making exceptions goes, there are quite some other groups (e.g. International Aid Workers, etc) who are no doubt a much higher priority.

Though I'm not quite sure how this will work in practice, it would be a real PITA for someone to be turned away at the airport on account of this detail....
