Great! I am glad you won the lottery in life or you have special skills and talents that has allowed you a wealthy lifestyle. Most travelers on the plane have to make tough choices.
Option One: Pay up to $500 more for a nicer chair for a few hours.
Option Two: Devote that $500 to having a better vacation over the entire time you are traveling. Nicer meals, nicer hotel rooms, see more attractions, etc. That $500 could give you some great meals at some great restaurants for example, that would give the average person a lot more pleasure over a much longer time period.
Everybody has their preferences.
Yeah, a fancier hotel costs more. For me I a don't need fancy, I need a nice comfortable bed. Most of the time I am pretty happy with the hotel rooms I get at my run of the mill Hilton. I dont think I have ever had a hotel stay where I did not have enough room. As for meals, like Abmj-jr abocve - I find myself going more and more to the hole in the wall neighborhood restaurants. Occasionally if there is some place I really want to try I will splurge, but I find the cheaper places are really better food - that is how they survive.
For me anyways, being compacted into an economy seat for three or four hours is a pretty unpleasant experience. I find my whole trip is a lot more pleasant when I am not dreading or getting over an unpleasant flight. Heck, half the reason I travel is for the flight. But you might be different - that flight may simply not be that unpleasant for you, you may really enjoy the fancier hotels and restaurants. If that is what you like, do it.
