The 77W's all have the new seats but the 772's do not - in fact only 10 out of 40-odd aircraft have been retrofitted with lie flat seats...
I believe I read somewhere on the AA forum that all LHR-JFK flights should be operated by the retrofitted 772s now, which means that a slopey seat on this route should be unlikely (and AA was also required to have all lie-flat seats on the LON-NYC route pursuant to the JV agreement, although don't recall what the deadline was).
