BLI is my home airport and it's a great little spot.
1. Alaska is a fantastic airline but you will need to connect in SEA/PDX to get to Oakland and Vegas unless the BLI-LAS flight fits your schedule. I'd rather drive than fly Allegiant but your results may vary. Try it once and you'll know.
2. As others said, you can arrive 1 hour before your plane departs and essentially walk right through the terminal and onto your plane. The TSA here are actually very nice and friendly.
3. BLI is heavily dependent on Canadian traffic so because of the decline in CAD vs USD, there is less traffic. The core Alaska flights are still there and Allegiant flies to a few places. When the CAD comes back, expect this airport to flourish. It has great potential as "Vancouver South".
