This is quite common, especially in Asia and the Middle East.
the staff in RC are VERY attentive, and they can very well re-recognize faces and remember names.
The most recent example was at HR Dubai Creek Heights. On the first day of a 6 night stay, I provided my room number in the evening. I never came back in the evenings to the lounge, but only on the last day. The employee greeted me with my name, never saw me on the other days (different staff for breakfast).
