Just so nobody else wastes 10 minutes on this,

PHL-(DL)-JFK-(VS)-LHR-(VS)-DEL

At JFK they detect OP has no valid US visa, and can therefore not transit LHR.Thus can not board. OP rebooks on UA direct flight to DEL. Bags go who know where (at this point I stopped reading that thread an ordered another beer).
