From what I've been able to find out, these are still full flat beds but in a forward/backwards configuration rather than herringbone? Am I correct , and are they still OK for an overnight flight? Depends.. AA has some "Cabin Improvement Program", aka CIP 772 planes which have F removed, and have the seat configuration you described in J, with full flat beds, however, they also have the older versions in the fleet where the planes still have F and J is angled flat beds.
