I haven't tried doing this before...so I thought this was the perfect place to get the 'skinny'

Say you want to take a trip where the first two weeks are in the car and you can pack light, but the last week of it you need your cumbersome (and valuable) scuba gear.

I would hate to envision a conceivably simple trip being burdened by lugging scuba bags around day after day....when you aren't using it. So I thought (if it were considered safe), we could lock it in a locker and retrieve it later before moving on to the last leg of the trip.

So...do most international airports have large lockers? Do most of you consider this a safe thing to do? Or you would advise against it?

The scenario is a general question, but one specific airport I am thinking of is AKL.
