well, you could stay at hotels that offer in room, high-speed internet access.. Or, get an 801.11b card and subscribe to tMobile HotSpot and find a Starbucks.. Or seek how free 802.11b access points..

I'm not sure if cable companies add on dial up access capabilities, but I know it's done with DSL service, either via your local telco or someone like Earthlink. They do this for exactly the reason you need.
