I have flown both J and PEY on CX and JL on these routes. For JL 1/2, I would agree and give the edge on food to CX. For the first meal after takeoff around midnight, JL does not serve you much food particularly in PEY, whereas CX gives a fairly decent meal by air travel status.

One big difference I have not seem mentioned here is that JL has wifi access whereas CX still does not have wifi on their flights.
