One option is to transfer credit card points to AP for a S* trip.
Since you now live in the US, you may now qualify for lots of US credit cards which offer tons of sign up/minimal spend points.
Still working on my credit portfolio and unfortunately it's pretty fresh as I only got my SSN and residency status a year and a half ago. I have a few U.S. reward cards and I'm gradually working my way up, but nothing in sight (that I know of) which would help with sign up bonus for AC. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to take a shot at the American TD card... maybe I'll do that.
