If you want to benefit from the lower prices from DUB you have to fly DUB-LHR-JFK (or DUB direct to usa if that works). Of course you then need to book a separate ticket from your starting point to Dublin before your trip and back from Dublin at the end. If you have Avios this is one good use for them.

Obviously this slightly more complicated approach isn't for everyone.
