I maintain status on 3 airlines, the benefits I enjoy (NEED) are pre-boarding (I never check bags so need lots of bin space), elite checkin (machines don't work for international), lounge access and waitlist advantages. On my primary carrier (BA) I also enjoy the preferential treatment and knowledge that they will help me out if anything goes wrong, sadly not always the case without status.
